Responsibilities

The NCLEX Success Coach uses evidenced-based learning strategies to identify and support at-risk students in the core nursing courses to measure student progress toward meeting NCLEX success.  The position reports to the Dean of Nursing, Boston.

 

  • Meet with both individual and groups of students who are identified as at-risk through the Student Performance Dashboard. 
  • Work collaboratively with the nursing faculty and CASE advisors (academic advisors) to develop an academic action plan for each student.
  • Work closely with the final course faculty to ensure an accurate assessment of the predicted NCLEX success of senior students during the final term of the students’ program.
  • Serve as a vital member of the nursing faculty and provide for the faculty an overview of student performance and any identified gaps with teaching and learning identified through student interactions for immediate revision.
  • Develop and implement objective measures to demonstrate advancing knowledge and skills as a cohort progresses through a program.
  • Provide comparative analysis of course performance term over term, as well as comparative analysis of student performance term over term, and of MCPHS student success against like schools nationally. Present data in graphic and numeric form for consumption by other university constituents.

Additional responsibilities may be assigned by the supervisor.

 

Rank is commensurate with education and experience.

Qualifications

Required:

 

  • MSN degree
  • Demonstrated understanding of the construction and NCLEX style questions
  • Demonstrated understanding of best practices in teaching at-risk students
  • Strong understanding of the current landscape of nursing education
  • Excellent interpersonal skills in both the development of relationships and interpersonal communication
  • The ability to understand, translate, and explain risk factors and strategies to mitigate risk factors
  • Critical skill to be a team player

 Desired:

 

  • Experience in Higher Education desirable
  • Familiarity with ATI, and HESI highly desirable
