The Instructor in Health Sciences is a 12-month, full-time faculty position with responsibility for instruction in Health Sciences (HSC) course courses for the major, Health Sciences courses in the health education and/or healthcare management track, as well as other service and scholarship, commensurate with rank.


  • Serve as an Instructor for face-to-face and online Health Sciences courses.
  • Work collaboratively with administrators, faculty and staff in the School of A&S.
  • Advise and mentor health sciences students in the general health sciences major, health education track, and healthcare management track.
  • Engage in service assignments related to the School of Arts & Sciences, committee work, and ongoing student/program assessment.
  • Produce scholarship resulting in conference presentations, publishable manuscripts, peer-reviewed instructional materials, or other outcomes consistent with expectations for scholarly activities described in the Faculty Manual.
  • Participate in Open House and other College-wide student recruitment and orientation events.
  • Contribute to the diversity and excellence of the academic community though research, teaching and/or service.

Additional responsibilities may be assigned by the Dean of Arts & Sciences.




  • Master's degree in health education, public health, healthcare management or a related health sciences required, with a doctoral degree preferred (e.g., EdD,  DrPH, PhD in health-related sciences, health education or healthcare administration);
  • CHES  or MCHES certification preferred
  • College teaching experience and evidence of teaching excellence in face-to-face and online Health Sciences, Health Education and/or Healthcare Management courses
  • Significant experience with health professions student advising and degree programs
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills
  • Commitment to undergraduate education and student success
  • Ability to work effectively with a culturally and academically diverse student population
  • Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues
  • Ability to mentor and advise undergraduates with diverse career interests
  • Ability to project a positive image of the department/program/school and the University
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
  • Ability to deliver face-to-face and online instruction
