The Doctor of Physical Therapy Program invites applications for a 12-month faculty position for a skilled educator and clinician, engaging in teaching, scholarship, and service activities as defined in the Faculty Manual



  • Participate in teaching selected classroom and laboratory classes
  • Engage in teaching, scholarship, and service activities as defined in the Faculty Manual.
  • Maintain a program of scholarly productivity appropriate to academic rank
  • Participate in clinical related activities as designated by the Director of the Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) Program
  • Participate in the implementation and evaluation of the curriculum for physical therapy education that conforms to MCPHS, School of Rehabilitation Sciences (SORS), and DPT Program policies and procedures.
  • Provide supervision, instruction, advice and counsel to students assigned to the didactic phase and thereby facilitate the students’ successful completion of all learning objectives
  • Maintain accurate and appropriate records, assist with periodic accreditation reports, accreditation site visits, and ongoing program evaluation
  • Represent the DPT Program through participation in service activities of the MCPHS SORS
  • Identify sources for and participate in the preparation and implementation of grants and contracts supportive of the activities of the program.
  • Serve on MCPHS University, SORS, and DPT Program-specific faculty committees when appointed or elected
  • Participate in local, state, and national professional organizations for professional development and to ensure program excellence and appropriateness of curriculum and instruction and its application to clinical instruction

 Additional responsibilities may be assigned by the Director of the DPT Program.


Rank is commensurate with education and experience.    




  • Earned PT degree from an accredited institution. Academic doctorate (PhD, EdD, ScD) preferred
  • Current physical therapist licensure or eligible for Massachusetts state licensure
  • A minimum of three to five years clinical experience as a licensed physical therapist
  • Ability to successfully manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment and meet deadlines
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and make significant contributions to the success outcome of the projects/assignments
  • Capacity for accepting responsibility without need for follow-up
  • Demonstrate respect for co-workers, faculty and students as well as others within the institution



  • Higher education teaching experience preferred
  • Expertise in at least one of the following areas of teaching: neurologic, pediatric, evidence-based practice or general physical therapy patient /client management
  • Completion of APTA-accredited residency and/or ABPTS certification or other advanced certification preferred
  • Ability to collaborate with a variety of professionals within the university or clinical setting
