Responsibilities

The Department of Pharmaceutical Business and Administrative Sciences in the School of Pharmacy-Boston at MCPHS University seeks adjunct faculty to teach in the business program designed to place undergraduate students into professional roles in the health care and pharmaceutical industries. Positions are available to teach at the Boston campus and to teach online.

 

Adjunct faculty are responsible for instruction, course preparation, developing instructional materials, grading and assessment, and professional responsibilities as a member of the instructional team of a school or academic department. Established syllabus and course content are available for most courses.

 

  • Working with the Program Director, the adjunct faculty member provides course instruction and implementation of course activities for Business courses in Health Care and Biopharmaceuticals.
  • Teach undergraduate students enrolled in courses in the various Health Care Business Programs. The courses are 3.0 credit courses which consists of a 3-hour weekly lectures for the Fall, Spring or Summer sessions.
  • Develop instructional materials and deliver classroom instruction according to an approved course syllabus using student-centered teaching methods.
  • Develop lesson plans and on-line content using the Blackboard LMS.
  • Advise and tutor students as required.
  • Maintain current and accurate attendance and grade records.

Additional responsibilities may be assigned by the Program Director.

Qualifications

Required:

 

  • A M.S. or equivalent degree with appropriate coursework and/ or credits in the above areas
  • A minimum of five years’ practical experience
  • A minimum of one (1) year of teaching experience in the subject areas taught or demonstrate prior training in instructional methodology and teaching skills from a formal teacher educational program or any comparable training program or formal in-house training program
  • Proficient skills and experience in Microsoft Office computer software systems that include word processing, spreadsheets, and presentations as well as a willingness to learn and use the Blackboard LMS
  • Ability to evaluate, design, and implement curriculum, testing, and teaching methodologies
  • Ability to work effectively with diverse populations
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
  • Knowledge of student centered-teaching methods, curriculum, and education programs
  • Ability to gather data, compile information, and manage student requests
  • Ability to develop assessment tools to effectively assess student learning
  • Ability to develop learning objectives for each class in order to maximize student achievement
