Provides painting on campus facilities including building interiors, exteriors, equipment and other structures. This is a part-time position and the work schedule will be based on the needs of the department.


  • Prepares painting surfaces by washing walls, repairing holes or removing old paint
  • Paints, stains and varnishes using brushes and rollers
  • Repairs surfaces to be painted including plastering and sheetrock finishing
  • Erects scaffolding, movable and immovable staging and various rigging to gain access to difficult areas
  • Moves furniture and equipment as necessary
  • Requisitions materials and supplies from stockroom
  • Cleans up supplies and stores paint and equipment in appropriate areas
  • Follows all University safety and security policies and procedures; reports any maintenance problems or safety hazards

Additional responsibilities may be assigned by the supervisor.




  • High school diploma or GED
  • Previous experience painting interior and exterior of buildings
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills
  • Skill in selecting and applying paint and associated products
  • Skill in applying coatings and/or caulking and completing repairs to exterior and interior surfaces
  • Skill in wood surface preparation, staining and sealing techniques.
  • Attention to detail
  • Must be able to communicate and read English, and follow verbal and written instruction
  • Ability to work evenings, occasional weekends

Physical requirements:


  • Ability to climb ladders
  • Ability to carry heavy equipment including painting tools and heavy buckets of paint
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time
  • Ability to move, lift, carry, push, pull and place objects weighing up to 50 pounds
