    Responsibilities

    The International Services Specialist will provide comprehensive administrative support and services to International Academic Services, other departments within the Center for International Studies (Immigration Services, English Language Resource Center and International Programs as needed) and to students utilizing academic support services on all campuses.

     

    • Assists the Director of International Academic Services in administrative duties related to addressing international student concerns, including international students in the Academic Bridge Program. 
    • Develops positive and collaborative relationships with faculty and staff to promote international student development
    • Assists Director of International Academic Services with communications to the Saudi Arabian Cultural Mission (SACM) and other international scholarship sponsors
    • Assists with and coordinates campus programming such as International Transitions Workshop and International Education week
    • Works with faculty and staff to coordinate and support international and multicultural programs offered to the campus community
    • Works with Student Affairs to ensure that students have a smooth transition when they begin the program and understand the resources available that will support student success.
    • Works with the Director of Center of International Studies (CIS) to organize exchange programs or events with international visitors on all campuses (e.g. provide tours of the facilities and to plan activities for them)
    • Utilizes databases for international students with regards to programmatic outcomes and provides data as needed to key decision makers within the University
    • Provides administrative support for CIS: Relaying messages/information to departmental staff; collect, copy, scan, and file student documents; make travel arrangements, plan and arrange events
    • Serves as a liaison to international students with regards to professional and career development
    • Assists in providing content for the CIS webpage, social networking sites, and contributes to written office publications
    • Undertakes special projects for the Center for International Studies, as needed

    Additional responsibilities may be assigned by the supervisor.

    Qualifications

    Required:

     

    • Requires a bachelor's degree in higher education, international studies or related area, and experience working with international students. Fluency in a second language is preferable
    • Requires an understanding of the educational, cultural and social needs of the international student community
    • Demonstrates the ability to work individually and as a member of a professional team, establishing strong working relationships across campus constituencies
    • Possesses excellent leadership, communication, organizational and interpersonal skills
    • Demonstrates proficiency in Microsoft Office and experience in managing databases
    • General familiarity with student visa requirements
