  • Overview

    The Faculty of Health Psychology is a 9-month, full-time faculty position with responsibility for instruction in Health Psychology courses including electives in the candidate’s area(s) of expertise, service to the School of Arts and Sciences and the University, and scholarship commensurate with rank.

    Responsibilities

    • Serve as instructor for undergraduate behavioral science courses including Health Psychology and Research Methods, and other courses that support the Health Psychology program and general education core curriculum (courses with content related to the delivery of patient-centered care preferred)
    • Provide formal and informal mentoring of health psychology majors and minors, including teaching courses within the Health Psychology career seminar series, as needed
    • Fulfill service assignments related to the School of Arts and Sciences, MCPHS University, and the Health Psychology major and minor programs, including ongoing program development and assessment
    • Maintain program of scholarship resulting in conference presentations, publishable manuscripts, peer-reviewed instructional materials, or other outcomes consistent with expectations for scholarly activities described in the Faculty Manual
    • Participation in Open House or other University-wide student recruitment events, as needed
    • Other service activities as assigned by the Department Chair or Dean of Arts and Sciences
    • Additional responsibilities may be assigned by the Dean.

    Qualifications

    Required:

    • Doctorate degree (PhD, PsyD, EdD) in psychology (must be completed by September 2019) with a background in health psychology;
    • College teaching experience in relevant courses and evidence of teaching excellence;
    • Record of scholarly activities commensurate with appointment at the assistant professor level and evidence of potential for continuing professional development; and
    • Experience with student advising and degree programs preferred.
    • Excellent organizational and communication skills,
    • Ability to work effectively with a culturally and academically diverse student population,
    • Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues,
    • Commitment to undergraduate education and student success, and
    • Ability to mentor and advise undergraduates with diverse career interests.

    Rank is commensurate with education and experience.
