  • Overview

    The Student Financial Services (SFS) Assistant is a customer service-driven role that serves as the initial point of contact for student and family walk-ins, email, and phone call inquiries in a fast-paced Student Financial Services Office. 


    The SFS Assistant position reports directly to the Associate Director, and provides a broad scope of administrative support activities for the department, which include the following responsibilities:


    • Greet current/prospective students and families.  Provide information related to Student Financial Services and Enrollment
    • Act as a frontline contact for the main SFS phone line by either answering questions or forwarding to appropriate staff/office
    • Coordinate daily tasks for the student employees
    • Maintain and manage an electronic calendar for the Student Financial Services office
    • Manage the Student Financial Services visitor space to ensure it is a suitable space to welcome visitors
    • Order and maintain an inventory of office supplies and forms/publications
    • Assist with Boston recruitment and Student Financial Services special events
    • Perform data entry into Ellucian Colleague and Salesforce
    • Scan and index forms/documents in OnBase imaging system
    • Manage the SFS and Financial Planner email box
    • Responsible for scheduling rooms for SFS meetings/events and creating work orders and help-desk tickets as necessary
    • Serve as primary backup for the Customer Service Concierge role in the Admissions Visitor’s Suite
    • Occasional evening and weekend availability is required

    Additional responsibilities may be assigned by the supervisor.




    • Bachelor’s degree preferred
    • Two years of previous administrative experience in an front office setting providing customer service
    • Experience working with students and families in a higher education setting a plus
    • Proficiency in the use of computers including MS WORD, Excel, Powerpoint and Outlook
    • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
    • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, technological, and written communication skills
    • Must be flexible and team-oriented, with a positive attitude toward customer service
    • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work in a fast-paced environment
    • Ability to maintain confidentiality when working on various projects, tasks and confidential material
    • Ability to identify and resolve problems in a timely manner; possess a sense of urgency and ability to prioritize tasks and resources appropriately
    • Ability to promote an environment conducive to respect and accountability at all times
    • Professional demeanor and appearance
