  • Overview

    New England School of Acupuncture seeks adjunct faculty to teach the course in Chinese Herbal Medicine: Clinical Pharmacology in the Master of Acupuncture & Oriental Medicine (MAOM) program during the Spring 2019 semester from 1/7/2019 – 4/26/2019.  The course addresses pharmacologic actions, clinical applications and safety issues of herbs.

     

    Responsibilities

    Provide educational instruction to master’s students in Chinese Herbal Medicine including:

     

    • Pharmacologic properties and mechanisms of action of selected herbs and classical formulas
    • Clinical applications of major formulas in Integrative Medicine settings
    • Toxicology of herbs
    • Potential adverse effects and their management
    • Herb-drug interactions
    • Use of natural Medicines Comprehensive database and Medscape to track adverse effects
    • Provide timely access to students of course syllabus, content, and feedback through Blackboard Learning Management System (LMS).
    • Track and report academic performance of students
    • Provide academic counseling or opportunities for additional assignment for students at risk for poor academic performance

    Qualifications

    Required:

     

    • Master's or doctoral degree in Acupuncture & Oriental Medicine, including Chinese Herbal Medicine
    • Clinical experience in use of acupuncture and herbs, minimum of 5 years
    • Expert knowledge of clinical pharmacology of Chinese herbs

    • Previous teaching experience preferred at college level

    • Knowledge of student-centered teaching methods preferred

    • Ability to communicate effectively with diverse populations
