  • Overview

    New England School of Acupuncture seeks adjunct faculty to teach the course Introduction to Chinese Herbal Medicine in the Master of Acupuncture & Oriental Medicine (MAOM) program during Spring 2019 semester, from 1/7/2019 – 4/26/2019.

    Responsibilities

    Provide educational instruction to master’s students in Chinese Herbal Medicine including:

     

    • History, development and application of Chinese Herbal Medicine, based on both traditional and contemporary herbal texts
    • Underlying properties and functions of herbs: the four qis, five tastes, channel entry, functional tendencies, preparation methods, and combining theory
    • Toxicity and adverse effects
    • Combining Chinese herbal and acupuncture treatments
    • Provide timely access to students of course syllabus, content, and feedback through Blackboard Learning Management System (LMS).
    • Track and report academic performance of students
    • Provide academic counseling or opportunities for additional assignment for students at risk of poor academic performance

    Qualifications

    Required:

     

    • Master’s or doctoral degree in Acupuncture & Oriental Medicine, including Chinese Herbal Medicine
    • Clinical experience in use of acupuncture and herbs, minimum of 5 years
    • Active license to practice acupuncture with Chinese herbs in MA
    • Expert knowledge of clinical applications of Chinese herbs
    • Previous teaching experience preferred at college level
    • Knowledge of student-centered teaching methods preferred
    • Ability to communicate effectively with diverse populations
