  • Overview

    This position is responsible for building, implementing, and managing the enrollment, student service, operations, and retention activities for students enrolled in courses and programs within the School of Professional Studies. The position may be located at either the Boston or the Worcester campus.


    • Reporting to the Dean of the School of Professional Studies (SPS), this position plays a key leadership role in developing the policies, processes, systems, and operational infrastructure needed to serve students enrolled in courses and programs within the newly established School of Professional Studies.
    • Work collaboratively with other MCPHS departments to determine which admission, enrollment, advising, technical support, student and financial services can be centralized within the University and which need to be built and managed within the School of Professional Studies.
    • Build and manage the service team and operational functions that are determined to reside under the umbrella of the School of Professional Studies.
    • Advocate for and implement the processes and technologies needed to serve working adult students attending noncredit and credit courses, either online or in-person.
    • Ensure SPS students are represented and served within other departments. Serve as the liaison to other student service departments including the Registrar’s Office, Student Financial Services, the Center for Academic Success and Enrichment, and Information Services.
    • Work with program directors, Registrar, and Office of Admissions to determine academic and enrollment policies related to programs and students within the School of Professional Studies. Examples include setting credit transfer, refund and withdrawal policies.
    • Work cross-organizationally to determine roles and responsibilities related to use of Elevate, the newly implemented registration and payment system. Serve as the point person for SPS in implementation of Elevate registration system.
    • Serve as liaison with Admissions and Marketing, and develop student service communication plans.
    • Develop and implement strategy for increasing student persistence and retention, including documenting the process and developing key metrics and timeframes.
    • Monitor student persistence in courses and certificates. Develop, implement, and report on key metrics.
    • Troubleshoot and develop operational policies and processes to serve part-time students on the evenings/weekends and online (e.g., building access, lab kit distribution, certificate distribution).
    • Ensure the collection of key data needed for student service and institutional reporting and prepare periodic and ad hoc reports and data for various stakeholders.
    • Represent the Dean as needed at various meetings.
    • Develop and deliver documentation and training for other departments.

     Additional responsibilities may be assigned by the Dean.




    • Bachelor’s degree required. Master’s degree preferred or in progress
    • Minimum of 7-10 years of experience in enrollment management, retention management, or admissions management in a higher education setting and with an adult, part-time or online student population
    • Experience overseeing policy and processes related to customer service, registration services, and/or enrollment and retention services
    • Supervisory experience
    • Hands-on experience with Colleague or other large, integrated student information systems, Elevate and/or Salesforce is helpful
    • This is a new role in a recently established school and requires someone comfortable with ambiguity and adept at problem-solving and process development.

    • Managerial and leadership skills with the ability to oversee projects, people, and multiple priorities
    • Ability to interact with and influence multiple constituencies – students, staff, and faculty
    • Strong problem-solving and decision-making capabilities; strong analytical skills
    • Excellent interpersonal, communication, presentation, and leadership skills
    • Experience establishing and scaling a new department
