  • Overview

    The Senior Application Developer designs, modifies, develops, writes and implements software programming applications and components. Supports and/or installs software applications and components. Works with pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job and maintains documentation of process.

    Responsibilities

    • Run complex development projects by analyzing business objectives, preparing an action plan and identifying areas for modification and improvement
    • Utilize established development tools, guidelines and conventions including but not limited to C#, Visual Studio, ASP.NET, SQL Server, HTML, CSS, and JavaScript
    • Maintain existing software systems by identifying and correcting software defects
    • Create and deliver data-driven reports
    • Function as part of a team that simultaneously works on a number of different projects and be accountable for the timeliness and quality delivery of all technical and analytical products
    • Work closely with the IT Operations Team to develop procedures, standards and processes for the monitoring and support of the University’s application infrastructure
    • Drive operational excellence across IT units
    • Develop and execute test plans to ensure that a product or system meets the design specification, security, and other requirements
    • Coordinate with IT to develop and utilize methodology standards in a coherent, consistent, accountable, and repeatable manner. Identify templates, tasks, and forms for a development lifecycle
    • Support effective change management through coordination of upgrades and patches across business applications including communication, user training and acceptance testing

    Additional responsibilities may be assigned by the supervisor.

    Qualifications

    Required:

     

    • Four-year university degree preferred
    • Minimum 4 years work experience working in application development teams
    • Solid understanding of object-oriented programming (OOP), Application Design Patterns and computer science foundations, such as memory management and low-level algorithm performance
    • Strong C# skills with deep knowledge of the .NET Framework, MVC, ASMX, REST and SOAP APIs.
    • Strong knowledge of HTML, Javascript, JQuery, XML, and CSS
    • Strong knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server database administration and stored procedures
    • Some knowledge of system integration using ETL, ESB and SFTP
    • Excellent verbal and written skills
    • Knowledge of Sitecore, Salesforce and Jitterbit preferred
    • Ability to drive between campuses as required

    Physical requirements:

     

    • Requires ability to walk, sit, stand, stoop, and lift up to 40 lbs.
    • Ability to be on site for scheduled work hours
