  • Overview

    The Development Associate plays a pivotal role by engaging with faculty and staff across the university to develop, oversee, and maintain a broad scope of responsibilities that contribute to University Advancement fundraising efforts, event production and communications initiatives.



    • Develops and oversees from inception to completion a wide variety of projects that support fundraising-related objectives
    • Plans, develops, and executes semi-annual student phonathon. This includes hiring and training student callers, ensuring staffing levels are appropriate, overseeing nightly phonathon activities, developing incentives, setting goals and reporting on progress towards goals, ensuring donors receive acknowledgements, and developing strategies to increase charitable support
    • Responsible for planning, development, and execution of the annual Parent Fund campaign including recruitment of representative families, content collection, and drafting and coordinating the in-house production of communication and solicitation materials
    • Collaborates with University Advancement colleagues and academic unit leadership on collection and creation of original content for school-based segmented annual fund direct mail solicitations
    • Organizes and manages the Laying the Foundation campaign, including development and creation of digital and print solicitation materials and oversee the production process and installation of engraved bricks on MCPHS campuses
    • Oversees day-to-day work of work-study students, including hiring, training, assigning work, and holding workers accountable.
    • Participates in the planning and content acquisition for videos to be used on the alumni website and for distribution by other means
    • Participates in the planning, development, implementation and evaluation of initiatives related to the increased and enhanced utilization of internet-based digital communications platforms including website, email, and social media communications.
    • Performs a wide range of database-related functions as assigned, including gift and pledge entry, constituent record updates, call sheet production and organization and various reporting functions, and selected input
    • Assists with other events and campaigns (for example, Reunion Class Gift, Graduating Class Gift, Scholarship Golf Tournament) as needed and performs additional related duties as assigned, for example, by contacting invitees, producing name badges and creating mailing packages Provide weeknight and weekend work availability, as necessary
    • Additional responsibilities may be assigned by the supervisor.



    • Bachelor’s degree
    • Minimum of two years working in a fundraising environment
    • Strong interpersonal skills, ability to articulate the mission of the University and its case for support and to engage volunteers to support fundraising initiatives
    • Must be detail oriented, extremely flexible, and able to multi-task
    • Demonstrated competency in use of Microsoft Office products as well as external social media, search engines and other resources to facilitate web-based communications and outreach
